Listen up cowgirls and cowboys! Writing Horseback is on Because of Horses Podcast. That’s right, my friend Elise Gaston Chand, the host of Because of Horses was kind enough to feature me on her equestrian podcast. This podcast for horse lovers features well-known people who blend their love of horses into their everyday lives. As a professional travel writer, I’m thrilled to incorporate my passion for travel with my love of horses.
Equestrian Travel Adventures
In episode 61 Because of Horses podcast Elise and I share our love of horses, our favorite places to take a horseback riding holiday and my upcoming travel plans for horse rides. When I was growing up in Northern California I had the good fortune to own three Quarter Horses from 5th grade to my senior year of high school. I showed horses at the Junior Grand National Horse Show at the Cow Palace and then traded my horse for a college education and my saddle for a car. Upon graduation, I eventually moved home to California and found my way back to the equestrian community because of horses.
Writing Horseback blog
In 2007 I launched Writing Horseback blog and began traveling the world on horseback. Some of my favorite horse riding holidays range from horse riding along the Wild Atlantic Way in County Sligo, Ireland and the Irish National Stud Farm, to visiting a working cattle ranch at Paws Up in Montana. If you’ve ever wanted to see what a glamping vacation in Montana is about or you want to experience a cattle drive, I’ve been fortunate to do all of those horseback tours.
Horses and hot tubs
I no longer camp with my horse; in fact, I no longer own any horses. On my travels, I prefer sleeping at a family-oriented dude ranch or going on a horse ride where a hotel and hot tub await at the end of the day. For me, that hotel is like the proverbial carrot dangling at the end of the stick!
I’ve written about places where you have the option to bring your own horse or borrow a horse at Ruby’s Horseback Adventures in Bryce Canyon, Utah. This was a fabulous horseback riding vacation with gorgeous trail rides. If you love a multi-day horse ride, Ruby’s Grand Adventure is the ride of a lifetime.
Writing Horseback dream destinations
Like you, I dream of where my next horseback riding vacation will be. I hope you have a chance to listening to Writing Horseback on Because of Horses podcast. Elise interviews horse lovers from all walks of life on this weekly podcast. She shared her recommendation for riding in Glen Eagles, Scotland, horseback riding near Santa Fe, New Mexico at Ghost Ranch and what it’s like to go riding at Hill Country Equestrian Center near Bandera, Texas.
