Horses at Mustang Monument
A sustainable eco-resort and preserve for wild horses, Mustang Monument is situated on 900 square miles south of Wells in northeast Nevada. I have yet to visit this all inclusive resort, three hours west of Salt Lake City. Owner and philanthropist Madeleine Pickens’ passion is wild mustangs and her mission is to save Americas mustangs, provide them with a sanctuary to live out their lives and educate the public in the process. The fact that Mustang Monument is a luxury resort, where guests stay in tepees and ride horseback, is an added bonus to your horseback riding holiday.
The resort opens to the public June through September. While the free roaming mustangs may conjure up images of the wild west, the upscale resort offers luxury tepees with king-size beds, antique furniture (I noticed a tweet Pickens posted looking for some copper Espresso machines for Mustang Monument) and hardwood floors.
