Beach Horseback Riding Vacation on California’s Central Coast
You won’t find a stable or ranch on the beaches of Morro Bay or Los Osos that offer horseback riding vacations. I’ll let you in on a secret. Jean Wyly of J & J Riding brings the horseback riding vacation experience to you. This former Fairbanks, Alaska resident followed her daughters to California’s San Luis Obispo and hasn’t looked back.
Open Horseback Riding on Morro Bay Beach
Wyly operates these one hour beach horseback riding vacations seven days a week from Morro Bay and Los Osos on California’s Central Coast. She owns 25 horses and rotates them so that all horses remain healthy and happy. Indeed, I didn’t notice any barn sour horses on our horseback ride.
This is no nose to tail horseback riding vacation. J & J Riding offers open riding on the beach, with horses matched to rider, from beginner to advanced equestrians. We had eight horseback riders in our group, ranging from first-time-on-a-horse to advanced riders. We were able to trot and lope on our own, or we could walk the entire way, taking in the beautiful Central California Coast scene from the back of a horse.
Stretch Your Buck on this Horseback Riding Vacation
“To stretch your buck a little further,” says Wyly, “I make my horseback rides 75 minutes instead of an hour.” The cost of this 60-75 minute beach horseback riding vacation is $65 per person. J & J Riding is open year round and there is no age restriction on the horseback riders. “I leave that to the discretion of mom and dad,” notes Wyly.
