Save an Elephant: Journey to Africa

Have you ever dreamed of traveling to Africa? My sense of curiosity toward Africa was sparked after thumbing through pages of National Geographic magazine as a child. The flames of my imagination were stoked when I saw the movie “Out of Africa” on the big screen. And as an avid equestrian, the idea of safari on horseback has been smoldering in the back of my mind for several years.
Sometimes I read of the poaching of animals in Africa and I become disheartened. With as many as 35,000 African Elephants being poached each year, will it be too late when I finally make it there? The black rhino is all but extinct and the elephants are being killed shamelessly for their ivory tusks. Will Africa still hold its magic in ten years?

Thanks to the support of organizations like Tusk, greater protection has been afforded to over 36 endangered species. In celebration of Tusk’s 25th birthday, Aardvark Safaris, with offices in California, the UK and Hong Kong, and its Kenya partners are joining together to offer the ultimate journey to Africa. This conservation-focused safari for two, worth $28,000 could be had for as little as $100 donation.

With your $100 donation, you and a guest could be enjoying a 12-day luxury safari exploring destinations such as the Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Masai Mara.
The more I talk to people who have experienced Africa’s wild wonders, the more intrigued I become. What would it be like to glimpse lions in their natural habitat or watch a herd of zebras cross a river while hippos lurk nearby? Wouldn’t you like to be a part of the solution?

  1. The threat to animals in Africa (especially the big ones) is horrendous. We’ve been involved earlier this year in helping save rhinos with #JustOneRhino, but there is so much more to be done. Thanks for bringing more attention to the issue!
