What to pack for a horseback riding vacation
You’ve made up your mind. This vacation is going to be a horseback riding vacation. Be it a dude ranch or an upscale guest ranch, there are certain essentials for a successful horseback riding vacation.
Packing list essentials for a horseback riding vacation
- Riding Boots
- Long pants – jeans
- Long sleeve shirt
- Short sleeve shirt
- Sports Bra – extended trot anyone?
- Jacket or vest – depending on weather
- Swimsuit
- Flip flops – better than cowboy boots when trekking to the pool or shower
- Chapstick
- Digital Camera – easy to carry when riding
- Sunscreen
- Flashlight
- Passport – if you are traveling out of the country

- Cowboy Hat

- Belt – preferably leather tooled with a rockin belt buckle
- Cell phone – switch ringer to vibrate – horses spook from unexpected noises

- Insect Repellent – depending on riding location
- Hoof pick – guide will have
- Charger for cell phone & digital camera

Great packing list – I really couldn’t think of anything to add – I do like to have my own fanny pack, but since a lot of places will provide a bag to hang from your saddle horn it’s rarely necessary, and I do like to wear layers that can easily be shed as the day warms up (which is common here in the desert southwest).
