I’m a sucker for stunning photography. I could spend hours clicking through Flickr photo streams and Facebook fan pages. Yes, I’m one of those folks who truly does enjoy looking at your horseback riding vacation photos. It is because of this time-draining habit that I came across the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch via Twitter. While I’ve never been to Loveland, Colorado, I’m sure that I would enjoy a horseback riding vacation at the ranch.

I’m going to show a little restraint here and not become a Facebook Fan of Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch until I’ve actually gone on a horseback riding vacation at the Colorado ranch.

Sylvan Dale Ranch Shows Promise

This ranch shows promise not only for me and my love of horseback riding, I think I might actually have success getting my family to the ranch. Located an hour from Denver, the ranch appeals to the recreation enthusiast, as well as the horse lovers in the group.

My husband and two teenagers are not interested in horseback riding, equitrekking vacations, but the father/son duo would enjoy shooting trap and the mother/daughter pair are happy with a massage, with or without horseback riding. As a family, we all like fishing and exploring new places outdoors.

I look forward to visiting the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch and going on a horseback riding vacation, exploring some of their 3,200 acres of riding trails and, perhaps, catching a trout on the two miles of private access to Big Thompson River. Maybe you’ll find me at the Cowgirl Round-Up, taking place April 15-19,2010.

  1. I LOVE the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch! I haven’t been there for many years, since I moved from Colorado to Arizona (by way of Virginia), but I lived only 45 minutes from Loveland, and Sylvan Dale was my favorite guest ranch to take visitors to (those that wanted a “real Cowboy” experience and to do some horseback riding). But as you can see from the first photo, it’s a lovely place to visit for the holidays as well and they do sleigh rides with the jingle bells and sing carols (they used to anyway – it was a real treat for anyone who lives where they DON’T get to enjoy a classic white christmas!)

Let me know if you do get there for the Cowgirl Round-Up – that’s a blast and I’d love to plan a trip up to Loveland to join you!

  2. Hi Sylan Dale Guest Ranch –

I was told that you have a horse back riding deal that one could ride up the ride and there would be a Chef at the top preparing steaks for dinner. Then once dinner is over you ride down the mountain. It this correct and if so how much does it cost? Do you run this event during the winter season? How long does it take from start to finish?

    Thank you,
    Merry Christmas
    April

Thanks for stopping by. I’m a travel writer. I review guest ranches. If you end up doing this ride at Sylvan Dale Ranch, I’d love for you to write a guest post and share your experience.
