You won’t be able to take a horseback riding vacation in Napa, but I can tell you how to bring a horse gift package to you or your horse-crazy loved one.
I was recently in the Napa Valley for a wine country visit. While the Black Stallion Winery once housed the Silverado Horseman’s Center, the property has since traded horses and stalls for wine bottles and wine barrels. The good news is that the winery makes some very nice wines and has kept its hoofprint, so to speak, in the horse world.
For serious vinophiles (that’s sophisticated speak for wine lovers) the Bucephalus proprietary red blend of cabernet sauvignon and syrah retails for a whopping $150 per bottle for the 2006 vintage. Horse lovers will appreciate that the wines name, Bucephalus, comes from the name of Alexander the Great’s Black Stallion. Legend has it that Alexander rode Bucephalus into battle until he died from war related injuries.

So it is Christmas in wine country. If you like horse-related gifts or simply enjoy a nice bottle of wine with a horse on the label, this year, you can thank me for this equestrian-themed gift basket idea.
The Equestrian Basket is a collection of horse themed gifts presented in a leather-handled wicker basket. Included is a single bottle of Black Stallion Winery wine of your choice (not included in basket price, so you can select from budget wine priced at $22, up to the high-end Bucephalus blend), two crystal Riedel logo wine glasses, logo waiter’s corkscrew, solid pewter horse bottle stopper, pewter horse-themed wine glass charms (set of six), three custom marble equestrian art coasters, box of wooden lucky horse matches and a custom Black Stallion Winery rusted iron horseshoe for luck.

For you social media savvy equestrians, Black Stallion Winery is on Twitter. You can find me on Twitter under my What a Trip travel writing location and my Writing Horseback site.
Disclosure: I tasted a complimentary sip of wine on this visit. Personally, I think they should have given me a logo cap to wear on my horseback riding vacations.

What a really cool idea! My sister is a horse-lover extraordinaire, so this would be a perfect Christmas gift for her!
