Horses, or caballos, as they are called by their Spanish name in Mexico, have served an important part in Spanish history.

I’ll be going on a horseback riding vacation at Holkan Kingdom and will report back on my experience. Update: Holkan Kingdom has closed.

  1. If you are ever planning a trip to Mexico again, I highly recommend Coyote Canyon Adventures in San Miguel de Allende. I spent a week with them riding their well-trained horses all day, having dinner around the campfire and even bathing in the river. They do everything from half day trips to week-long rides and are really fun, professional and safe. Their website is http://www.coyotecanyonadventures.com. Hope to read about a ride with you at Coyote Canyon soon!
