Who loves a road trip more – you, your horse or your dog? A friend of mine had a horse that loved sticking his head out the horse trailer window. He would whinny when my horse and I came into view, knowing that we would be out on the trail together soon.
The same holds true for my Labrador Retriever. She jumps up and down when I get out the leash and pack her dog bed into the car. More often than not, she is in the SUV before I have finished packing. Nothing beats a good road trip to the beach.
Subaru Forester SUV
I had the opportunity to review the 2014 Subaru Forester. Who wouldn’t want to take their family and dog on a road trip to Carmel?
Mine is not a technical, under the hood car review. For that, you should read Motor Trend magazine’s article naming the 2014 Subaru Forester SUV of the year.
My car review covers the basics of fuel efficiency, safety features and bells and whistles of the 2014 Forester.
Subaru Forester pet-friendly SUV
In a random survey of my Facebook friends, I asked who owned a Subaru and what they liked about the car. Hands down, everyone who drove in inclement weather on a regular basis sang the praises of the Subaru in general. The Subaru Forester was a favorite of my sporty friends, especially skiers and snowboarders, and those who owned pets. Certainly, this is a pet-friendly car and a snow car.
Speaking from personal experience, my Labrador was very comfortable resting on her dog bed for the three hour drive from the San Francisco bay area to Carmel, California. That’s not to say she didn’t leap out of the car and jump for joy when we arrived at Carmel River State Beach!
As I don’t own horses any longer, I can’t tell you if the Subaru Forester is good for hauling a horse trailer. I do think it could carry a bale of hay or several bags of shavings for the barn and certainly it would hold a Western or English saddle comfortably in the rear cargo area.
What do you think? Would you buy the 2014 Subaru Forester?
